2:00 we met at Freetown Teachers College with the head of the Teaching Practice Department.
We decided to have all the college staff meet next Thursday and Friday. Each department is to present on their topic. Transformation Educatio is to present 15 minutes on each of the following Character Education, Classroom Discipline Plan and Modern Methods of Teaching.
They said food would be needed and asked how it would be taken care of…They expected that I would say we would provide lunch. We are coming to work along side of you. I asked, "If you were doing the presenting would you be expected to pay for everyone’s lunch?" They said they would not, but the college would pay.
Mr. Sorie the Principal as always offered us beverage. During this time I asked for a list of the type of books that are needed. They requested anything that will help them be better teachers (methods, content, athletic equipment…). They said they can’t ask specifics because the only resource they currently have and know about are from the 1970’s. They have 10 computers for the 400 some teachers training at the college. They used to have internet access, but for 5 years the phone line/internet access has not worked for them. The Principal of the College has to go to the internet café to check internet.
