Sunday in Monrovia

Brother Prince the second grade teacher at Slipway Elementary School invited us to his church. They have been praying for a relationship with an international church. There was much celebration when some Liberian Americans who were visiting the church announced their plan for their American church to extend partnership to their church. After service the leaders showed us the medical clinic for which they have built the walls. They are diligently working to serve Christ through serving the people in their community.

Mr. Thomas Beyan, the 4th grade Math teacher took a Land Rover full of us around to the sights of Monrovia. First was the 4 floor museum that was looted during the war, but they had one floor of artifacts and art exhibits.

Below shows what used to be a fire star hotel. Now the swimming pool is the laundry area for a squatter community. One of our crew memebers has helped start a school for the children who are living here called Mercy School. He has provided salary for the teachers, black board paint, and benches.

Below is the view of the coastline from the hotel and laundry. Franky is the boys name. He is a resident who stuck with us as we looked around the hotel. He is a student at the Mercy school.
